Finding Great Small Business Web Site Designs
The great thing about the twenty first century is that literally anybody can start their own business with nothing but a website. Sure, no flying cars, no teleportation chambers just yet, and the economy is in trouble, BUT… Because the market is open for anyone with a good idea, because anybody can start their own business, there has almost never been as much opportunity to make money as there is today. The only thing left to consider, after you’ve come up with a smart business plan, is how you’re going to get great small business web site design.
Well the trick is mainly… To just look at the websites built by various designers. When you go to their own websites, that should be a great example of what they’re capable of, so as you browse it, keep the following considerations in mind…
Do You Want to Hire Them?
This is kind of funny for being the first question to ask yourself, but remember, you’re in this to make money, right? So obviously, you want to be looking for a website that makes you want to whip your credit card right out and start spending! Of course, your products or services are what closes the deal, but you want to make sure that, at the very least, the website has a good, professional feel to it, and that you feel you can trust them with your money, that they’re not some fly by night operation.
Is the Website Attractive?
Obviously you don’t want too many bells and whistles, but you do want a nice, bold, attractive look.
Something with a simple color scheme that’s easy to read, that leads the eye easily from one part of the page to the next, and that’s easy to navigate and find your way around. Some sites make it a little too fancy with loads of flash animations and interactive stuff, but this really prevents users from coming back to your site over and over in the long run.
Great Content
The web content is really what it comes down to. If you plan on writing your own content, that’s one thing, but if you plan on leaving it in the hands of the web designer, they’ll either write it themselves or hire it out to a third party company that they trust, but either way, you need to make sure that the content makes you want to keep reading, that it’s worthwhile, and not just an advertisement.
